Courtcase transcript follows: #150: Amaletha the flower girl / Caracach alKara Topic : assault and other charges Submitted : 11.3.268 A.F. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the eleventh day of the month of the spider, in the two hundred sixty eighth year after the big fire in padorn, Amaletha the flower girl wrote: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the 6th in the month of the spider, 268, I was attacked and abused by those known as Caracach alKara and Stephanie the psionic (though she looks like a mage to me!) Here is my story: Having just visited Silverlining to purchase flowers for resale in the public places of Padorn, I was looking for potential customers. The first I saw was a male red-eyed ancient drow who was walking around with some rather unhealthy friends. I looked at the drow and thought, "Ah... A customer!" so I made my pitch to sell him flowers. He asked me to deliver flowers and a brief message to Tremain and Caracach who are both Satais and payed me 2 platinum coins. I found out who Tremain was sometime later. Due to a ghostly state, he could not accept flowers from me but I delivered the message. Shortly thereafter a centaur cantered in and I found him to be Caracach, the first accused in this case. A certain Morion a dwarf who guards the temple of Rokoon in Padorn can I think testify to the fact I was there asking him who are these two Satais. He was unwilling to answer me, but should if an honest man, at least witness that I was seeking them everywhere. Having found the two to whom I was to deliver flowers, neither of them appreciative, I sat around a while since many people were there, and that is the best place to sell flowers of course where there are people. Then someone told me to go back to my shop. I didn't understand why, as I have no shop. Next I know, Caracach comes back and kicks me. Hard in the posterior while I was not looking at him. A few people decided this was maybe a good time to leave. Then they begin to insist I am possessed. I protest that I am not, but it makes no difference. They say that I will have to be bound, so fearing further injury. I offer my hands and show no resistance. Caracach grabbed me roughly anyway nearly landing atop me, and twisted my arm while Stephanie bound me. Now I will admit, I became very angry. But I just sat there anyway, although I might have been a bit colorful with my language. I think this is excusable with how I was treated. Next it was suggested to me, that no one would listen to me anyway because I was working for a necromancer. I did not know this drow was anyone bad. Until a few weeks ago, I only left my house with my parents to go shopping, or when I could sneak out unseen to visit a friend. Where would I learn of necromancers as the daughter of a wealthy family? I was no more working for him, or his SLAVE as they said, than is an innkeeper who sells him a beer! I sold him flowers, that's all. Since there was no cleric around, and they did not believe me, they said they were going to throw me in a lake to see if I could swim. They say that ghouls and zombies do not swim. Well, I can swim a little. Maybe not to show off, but probably enough to prove I could swim before I drown. They did not do this, but they terrified me with it. So, as I believe the court is probably fair and does not think a young flower merchant should know every criminal type who roams the streets, I ask that Caracach be charged with with the following crimes: 1) Assaulting me bodily. 2) Emotional assault. I was given great fear by thinking I was going to be thrown in a lake. And perhaps not to be untied first. Who knows what these people might do, certainly not I! 3) Tieing me up. It was against my will even if I did not try to struggle. To agree to go along willingly to avoid being beaten is not really willing. 4) Excessive force in arresting me. Why did I have to be grabbed so when I stuck out my arms to be bound? 5) Impugning my reputation. Suggesting that I was the tool of a necromancer, and giving me no opportunity to show otherwise might make me look bad to someMore: people. 6) Loss of business. All this while as I was tied up, I was not making money. Since I only make enough money to eat and buy more flowers to sell, this is not good. Stepanie was only really involved in the part of binding me. At the very least, she is a witness. I will mail all other witnesses privately for comment rather than naming them here. I ask the court to decide fair compensation for this abuse and to discourage the perpetrators from such acts in the future. Amaletha, flower merchant ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the nineteenth day of the month of the spider, in the two hundred sixty eighth year after the big fire in padorn, Stephanie the psionic wrote: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not much to say about this, the human Amaletha was working for Cadderly and her story that a drow travelling with an army of stinking rotting corpses seemed perfectly normal was weak at best. Given Cadderly's own tendency to possess his messengers we quite naturally assumed she was possessed as well and I tied her up so she wouldn't run off at an opportune moment. As it turns out it seems she wasn't possessed, which if anything makes it even worse as it means she actually worked for this infamous necromancer of free choice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the twentieth day of the month of the spider, in the two hundred sixty eighth year after the big fire in padorn, Amaletha the flower girl wrote: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am sorry, but this is complete rubbish. I am a flower merchant. I was hired to deliver flowers. I didn't know who he was. It's still no excuse to beat me up when I am not resisting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the fourth day of the month of the dragon, in the two hundred sixty eighth year after the big fire in padorn, Amaletha the flower girl wrote: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- In fact, if anyone wishes to allege that I work for a necromancer as a factor in this case, then they should file an accusation against me and let the court decide. I believe that's how it's done around here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the seventh day of the month of the dragon, in the two hundred sixty eighth year after the big fire in padorn, Caracach alKara wrote: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, I will try to comment this case without laughing... We did not attack this Amaletha, we did bind and flame her for working for Cadderly however - How bind without attacking? She offered her hands so we can find out if she is possessed. Now the reason why I thought she was possessed: She mocked Tremain and me with her message from Cadderly right after Cadderly had ambushed and slain the two of us right in front of my house offering us flowers in his name... She might not be possessed, but she is definitely insane - hope there is a law against that. No sane being could think Cadderly, 15 ghouls, 20 zombies some demons and an imp could be 'normal' customers, right? Not to mention wherever she met him - if she'd read the laws there, I bet she would have known ghouls and zombies are forbidden there. She MUST have known she is working for a criminal and if not, she did not know because she failed to inform herself. I request her to be fined for insult, psychic cruelness and for assistng a well know necro and murderer! Caracach alKara ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the eighth day of the month of the scorpion, in the two hundred sixty eighth year after the big fire in padorn, Amaletha the flower girl wrote: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kicking me is most certainly assault. Handling me roughly after I held my arms out to be bound, to avoid further beating, is most certainly assault. I mocked noone. Tremain was invisible when I attempted to deliver the flowers. This might have caused some confusion on my part, because I had never met anyone invisible before. At the time of the incident, I had only been out of my home for two weeks. Why do you think a good girl of a good family who was never allowed to leave the house alone would know anything about necromancy? It is very dumb if you ask me that you make this assumption. Amaletha ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the eleventh day of the month of the raven, in the two hundred sixty eighth year after the big fire in padorn, Firebolt the ravager wrote: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nothing in this particular case - but I witnessed Caracach kicking Tojalak in Padorn Inn recently. Tojalak complained about this rude behaviour, and judging from the sound of a hoof hitting Tojalak's bottom (found no other word to describe this area....) it must have hurt a lot... [END OF FILE]
