Star League Defense Forces Mapping Agency

This page is an effort to sort out the different maps of the Inner Sphere of the BattleTech Universe. Several main events/dates are by which one usually sorts the maps.
THIS IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS, AND WILL BE UPGRADED REGULARLY :)

2570 - During the original Star League founding period this was the makeup of the Inner Sphere. Sadly alot of information about the true extends of the Rim Worlds Republic was lost during the Succession Wars, and after the Amaris Coup. This map shows what is known of the borders of the Inner Sphere before the SLDF launched the Reunification Wars of the 2580s to force the Periphery Nations to join the Star League. Later several of the Periphery planets was annexed by various Great Houses.

3025 - On the eve of the 4th Succession War, this is the status quo at the beginning of the eras people play in. NEW!! 3025 FLASH MAP added!!

3030 - After the brief, but brutal, 4th Succession War the picture changed drasticly. Half the Capellan Confederation was gone, with parts splitting into independent realms like the Tikonov Free Republic and St Ives Compact. Also the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth joined into the Federated Commonwealth, the largest and most powerful House since the fall of the Star League 300 years earlier.

3040 - In the next ten years, several events took place. The Tikonov Free Republic, after it's leader was assassinated, voted to join the Federated Commonwealth, finally bridging the gap between the colossal realm. In 3034 the Free Rasalhague Republic was formed when ComStar negotiated the secession of the Rasalhague worlds from the Draconis Combine. The Federated Commonwealth had no option but to follow suit, and cede the worlds in question to the new Republic. Then in 3039 Hanse Davion launched his War of 39, an twofront attack on the Draconis Combine aimed at destroying the realm for good. The attacks quickly bogged down after several unknown Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery Battlemech Regiments joined the fight, throwing the FedCom offensive offtrack with a counteroffensive of their own.

3050 - Only small border changes happened the next decade, as all the Great Houses kept rebuilding and renewing their military forces. Little did they know what was in store for them from beyond the Periphery. The Clans was coming.

3052 - After two brutal years of combat, the Clans was finally halted at Tukkayid by the combined might of ComStar's ComGuards. A 15 year truce was agreed upon, during which time the Clans would not approach further to their final goal, Terra.

The Clan assault went in waves, hitting world after world in the way towards their target. The illustration here shows just how many worlds each Invasion Corridor took in each of the five waves. Click on the picture to get a larger version.

3063 - Current day. On the eve of the brewing civil war in both parts of the former Federated Commonwealth, as the sides loyal to Precentor Martial Victor Steiner-Davion and Archon Princess Katrina Steiner(-Davion) gear up towards a showdown. Also annotes the new Ghost Bear Dominion and Draconis Combine borders after the initial stages of the Ghost Bear assault on the Combine in november and december of 3062, as well as the first strikes by Draconis March units into the Draconis Combine after the December 5th incident. They are shown as orange "fingers" digging into the belly of the Dragon.

The Clan Homeworlds shown with their relative locations compared to the Inner Sphere, as well as the various Deep Periphery realms, planets and bases which the Explorer Corps has charted ever since the Exodus.

Latest updates:

Nov 1:        Removed the 2570 and 2750 PDFs, because they are too inaccurate compared to the proper 2570 adn 2750 maps (See the new Handbook series from FanPro for the proper maps of those eras).

Dec 31:        Added new version of the 3063 PDF, including information from "Path of Glory", the newest Battletech Novel by Randall N. Bills. Also added what a file with what is known about the extends of the original Star League, anno 2570. Also added a PDF showing the Inner Sphere along with the Clan Homeworlds in one map. I know this is a map many have been wanting.

Oct 21:        Added new versions of all the PDF files, because of small erors I found in them, like including the Rim Collection before it's foundation in 3048, and also having the Annexation of the Lothian League on maps before it happened. Oops :) Working on a correct Clanspace/IS combined map, but there are some problems with the data I need to find out about before I can finish it.

Sept 19:        Added a decent background to the page, as well as the SLDF-MA logo I designed. Also done some minor changes on the maps themselves, like added some of the missing cluster circles. This should be up by the end of the week.

July 1st:        Uploaded newest versions of the PDF files. Added the internal borders to the 3025 map. 3063 map updated with the confirmed information from "Measure of a Hero", unconfirmed info not added yet.

28/12/02:      As some might have heard, I've been asked by both Fantasy Productions (who do Classic BattleTech) and WizKids (who do MechWarrior Dark Age) to do their maps. Which I have happily agreed to do.

15/3/03:      Added the 3025 "interactive" map page. Check it out! If people like it I might do other eras.

Things to come:        Uncertain right now, as right now any new maps will be published by either FanPro or WizKids.

Maps published:

Also worth checking out is Michael Flynn's Inner Sphere Carthographic Society page, we're share some data, like the planet informations. My maps are more political in nature, which his are more practical, for figuring out jump paths and such. :)
